XBOX ONE PRICE DROPS?

In other Xbox One deals news, eBay is selling the 500 GB Xbox One S Minecraft bundle for only $200 right now. Go to the eBay page here (via Kotaku) to place an order.

Microsoft today announced a $50 price cut on all Xbox One and Xbox One S systems, bringing the price of the console down to $250 to start. This temporary price cut is reportedly good until February 25.

The price cut matches Sony's temporary PS4 price drop to $250 that started February 12 and also runs until February 25. When Sony announced its PS4 price cut, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft followed, as it's done in the past.

As mentioned, the Xbox One price cut is good on all Xbox One and Xbox One S bundles, including the 1 TB Xbox One S Halo Wars 2 system that launches today. Its list price is $350, but the discount brings it down to $300. It comes with a copy of the Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition, which unlocks today ahead of the RTS sequel's official release on February 21.

There are quite a few Xbox One S bundles available, including the 500 GB Battlefield 1 system that comes with that game and a one-month subscription to EA Access. It normally sells for $300 but is now available for $250 thanks to the price cut.

The $50 price cut on all Xbox One models is good at all major retailers in the US, including the Microsoft Store, Amazon, Target, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart.

SEVEN GAMES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO XBOX ONE BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY PROGRAM THIS WEEK

For the second time this week, Microsoft has added games to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog. New additions for today, October 13, include Silent Hill: Downpour, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

These were announced by Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb on Twitter.

Silent Hill: Downpour

If you already own any of these games on Xbox 360, they should show up automatically in your Xbox One game library. If not, you can buy them on your Xbox One or through the links below.

*Eat Lead ($15; 5.53 GB)
*Silent Hill: Downpour ($20; 4.52 GB)
*Puzzle Quest ($10; 80.29 MB)
*These three games follow the release of Jurassic Park: The Game, Battlestations: Midway, Dragon's *Lair, and Tour de France 2011 into the backwards compatibility catalog earlier this week.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature launched in November 2015 with the New Xbox One Experience update. Microsoft has added new titles on a regular basis since then--you can see all 250-plus games in the catalog here.

Since backwards compatibility launched, the response has been "overwhelming," Microsoft recently said. Users have collectively spent 145 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.

Just recently, Xbox boss Phil Spencer was asked if Call of Duty: Black Ops II--the single most-requested title on the Xbox Feedback site--would be added to the program. He did not confirm anything but said conversations are ongoing about adding more third-party games to the catalog.

XBOX SCORPIO, CROSSPLAY WITH PS4?

In a new interview with MCV, Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg sheds some new light on two of the more exciting and interesting gaming announcements in recent months: Xbox Scorpio and cross-play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

On the subject of Scorpio, which was announced at E3, Greenberg was asked if the console's reveal has impacted Xbox One S sales. The thinking is that if people know a more powerful console is coming, they might hold out. In fact, GameStop recently said the announcement of Scorpio and Sony's Neo negatively impacted console sales. Greenberg didn't exactly give an answer to this question, however, instead saying Microsoft's focus will be on being "very, very aggressive" when it comes to marketing the Xbox One S.

Microsoft will be "really focused on delivering on value with bundles and what you get for the price," he said.

Earlier this month, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said the Scorpio reveal did not "overshadow" Xbox One S. Some people believed Microsoft's announcement of Scorpio might impact Xbox S sales, but apparently that hasn't been the case. The Xbox One outsold the PS4 in the US during July (before the Xbox One S was released) and Microsoft is optimistic about how many consoles it can sell in August.

In the MCV interview, Greenberg again referred to Scorpio as the "most powerful console ever created," featuring a six-teraflop GPU. He also said the system represents the "next big leap forward in innovation for gaming" and something that has never been done before on console. What he's likely referring to is how Microsoft is, for the first time on console, treating Xbox as a family of devices.

The games and accessories you own for Xbox One or Xbox One S will work on Scorpio. For previous console transitions, like Xbox 360 to Xbox One, the games and controllers you had for the older machine were rendered basically useless on the new console. However, backwards compatibility support on Xbox One helped with some of this. Scorpio goes even further and "wipes out" the idea of a console generation and eases the "disruptive" nature of moving to a new platform, according to Microsoft.

"We announced [Scorpio] early at E3 so that we can start working with developers and partners who we know will want to take advantage of that incredible amount of power and have a good year plus to be able to plan for it," Greenberg said.

Scorpio is slated to go on sale in holiday 2017, though pricing has not been announced. For its part, Sony is working on a souped-up PS4, codenamed Neo, which could be officially revealed in September.

Also in the MCV interview, Greenberg was asked for a status update on when, if ever, there might be cross-play support between Xbox One and PS4. As has been the case for months, the ball remains in Sony's court, it seems. One of the first games that could support Xbox One-PS4 cross-play is Rocket League. Developer Psyonix has a technical solution for this, but it's still a matter of politics.

"In terms of connecting with gamers on the PlayStation Network, we fully support them to do that. And I believe they're talking to Sony about it, but I don't know the latest," Greenberg said.

Speaking generally about cross-play, Greenberg said for a game like Rocket League, it "makes sense to allow players on other platforms to compete in the same arenas. We think that is good gamers."

"Our strategy is to put gamers at the center of everything we do, and that has led us to support things like that where a developer wants to connect people on Steam, for example," he added. "They're doing that today."

DARKSIDERS REMASTER COMING SOON TO XBOX ONE?

It looks like the first Darksiders game is getting a fresh coat of paint. After a leak earlier this week, publisher Nordic Games' website reveals that Darksiders is getting remastered. Called Darksiders Warmastered Edition, the game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC.

As detailed on the website, the Warmastered Edition improves upon the original 2010 action/adventure game in a number of ways. For instance, it'll run at native 1080p on consoles. It also hits 60 frames per second on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, although the Wii U version is limited to 30 frames per second.

The changes also include:

*Doubled texture resolutions
*Rendering improvements and rework
*Better shadow rendering quality
*Post processing effects

This week a couple European sites (NextN and PCGames) leaked the remaster early. We don't have word on when it'll launch or what price it'll be--the website only says "coming soon."

You can check out our review of the original Darksiders here. The game's sequel, Darksiders II, was already remastered for PS4, Xbox One, and PC and released in October 2015.

MICROSOFT CONSIDERED CALLING XBOX 360 THE "Xbox 3"?

When the Xbox One was originally announced, its name caused a lot of confusion and amusement because Microsoft threw normal naming conventions out the window and went backwards in number. However, Microsoft is no stranger to unusual numbering: after all, it named the original Xbox's successor "Xbox 360." As it turns out, though, the other name Microsoft considered for the 360 is even stranger.

According to an IGN interview with former Chief Xbox Executive Robbie Bach, the company seriously thought about naming the console "Xbox 3." And the reasoning centered on Sony's console, the PlayStation 3, and how Microsoft didn't want people to perceive Xbox as behind.

Bach explained, "Certainly Xbox 3 was actually on the list because, well, you've gotta catch up. You don't want to be Xbox 2 compared to PlayStation 3. We actually talked about that... You don't want to feel like you're a generation behind, so why not skip?"

Of course, the company ended up going with "Xbox 360," but since then Microsoft has proven just as willing to subvert numbering expectations. For example, last year it skipped Windows 9, going directly from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

In addition to talking about the 360's name, Bach also explained why Microsoft never made an Xbox handheld. Take a look at IGN for more interesting tidbits from their series with Robbie Bach.

NEW CHARACTER REVEALS ON INJUSTICE 2?

NetherRealm Studios is holding a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week where it will reveal two new characters for Injustice 2.

Creative director Ed Boon shared the image below, which features the silhouettes of the soon-to-be-announced characters. We're not sure exactly who they are, but one appears to be a woman.

The hour-long panel takes place on Friday, July 22, starting at 12:30 PM PT. Panelists include Ed Boon and Injustice comics author Tom Taylor, as well as voice actors George Newnbern (Scandal) as Superman, Phil LaMarr (Futurama) as Aquaman, and Laura Bailey (Uncharted 4: A Thief's End) as Supergirl.

There may also be "some surprise guests," according to the panel's official description. Additionally, attendees can expect to see "exciting new gameplay" and hear panelists talk about Injustice 2's new features and customization component. Taylor will discuss a new Injustice comic.

Following a string of reports and leaks, Warner Bros. officially announced Injustice 2 in the days before E3 2016. Confirmed characters so far include Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Supergirl, and Gorilla Grodd. Characters rumored for the game include Captain Cold, Doctor Fate, and Harley Quinn.

Injustice 2, a sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us, is scheduled to come out in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 BIOHAZARD DEMO STRATEGY GUIDE

Resident Evil 7's demo is believed to have many secrets and fans have been busy, trying to uncover them--sadly, it's starting to look like everything has been discovered. Now, a fan named WheresBarry has put together an NES-style manual that details everything that's known about the demo.

The manual covers everything from the demo's story and characters to the locations of the mysterious ghost girl. There's a detailed map of the entire house, a breakdown of every item, and a guide to all the endings. WheresBarry even added a list of theories, some of which have been pushed and researched by the community to a surprising extent.

WheresBarry introduces the manual, saying he's been a "huge fan" of the series since the original came out in 1996.

"Like most of you, I've been playing the demo for about seven straight days and am slowly starting to realize that there is nothing left to do," he said. "I decided to take a break from playing and write down everything we've ACTUALLY found out about the game."

He ends the manual by saying, "We've done everything there is to do, the game just ends that way. Capcom is laughing at us." You can check out the full thing for yourself below.

Despite there likely being no solution to the demo, it's a really fun read, even if you already know everything there is to discover. It makes me wish modern games came with manuals like this.

Although the demo leaves the story of Resident Evil 7 a mystery, we do know that it isn't part of the full game. Resident Evil 7's protagonist will also be different from the one you play as in the demo.

For more on Resident Evil 7, check out GameSpot's interview with producer Masachika Kawata, where he talks to us about what the full game will actually be like. He also talked about how he was unhappy with the cancellation of Silent Hills/PT.

XBOX ONE S WON`T LAUNCH UNTIL DECEMBER

The system that Microsoft touted the most at E3 reportedly won't launch until months after the 2 TB model comes out in August.

One of Microsoft's big announcements at E3 2016 this week was the Xbox One S. At the briefing, Microsoft said the console would begin its launch in August 2016 and touted a $300 price. As it turns out, only the 2 TB version of the console, the most expensive model that goes for $400, will be available to buy then.

The 1 TB and 500 GB models, the latter of which was heavily touted during Microsoft's E3 briefing on Monday, will not be available to buy until December. This is according to listings for the systems on Microsoft's own online store.

We have followed up with Microsoft in an attempt to confirm the specifics around the launch timing for all Xbox One models. Here are the Microsoft Store listings for all Xbox One S models: 500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB.

Listings for all of the Xbox One S models on Amazon also show the same release schedule.

All of these systems come in a "robot white" color, while the console itself is 40 percent smaller than the existing Xbox One. It also has an internal power supply (the current Xbox One does not), while it supports high dynamic range, though actual performance is not improved.

The Microsoft Store listings also reveal that only the 2 TB Xbox One S model comes with the vertical stand. It can be purchased separately for $20.

Coming after the Xbox One S will be Microsoft's Project Scorpio, a system that is four and a half times as powerful as the existing Xbox One. It launches in holiday 2017, though a specific release date and price have not been announced.

NEW CONSOLE BY MICROSOFT? LET SEE..

Today at Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference, the company confirmed the existence of a new console. Named Project Scorpio, the announcement confirms rumors we’ve been reading for the past few months. Set to release in 2017, the new system will feature 8 cores, 320Gb memory bandwidth, and six teraflops of performance that will allow for true fully uncompressed 4K gaming. This suggests it will not simply be upscaled 2160p.

Microsoft also unveiled that Project Scorpio would be backwards compatible with both the Xbox One and Xbox One S, and you’ll be able to use the same peripherals and controllers with the console as well.

The 4K news is surprising, since the resolution is extremely graphically demanding on hardware and is four times as sharp as 1080p. For reference, leading $400 PC graphics cards still struggle with 2160p. To dissuade disbelief, however, one developer in the promo video stated, “They’re really going for it.”

In addition to the 4K announcement, Microsoft also stated that the console would also be capable of targeting 60fps performance as well and that it would deliver a “no-compromise” experience.

Microsoft also alluded to the fact that Project Scorpio would be used to power VR games as well, which makes sense because VR is so graphically demanding due to the fact that it requires a high resolution and fast, consistent frame rate. Bethesda's Todd Howard was in the promo video, and alluded to the idea that the VR version of Fallout 4 would be coming to the console. Considering the VR version of the game is currently only announced to support the HTC Vive virtual reality headset, this could potentially mean we'd see HTC Vive support for Project Scorpio.

No price was announced for Project Scorpio, but you can stay tuned to GameSpot for more E3 coverage as news develops.

OHSEM BATTLE FROM BATTLEFIELD 1

DICE revealed Battlefield 1 today, confirming an earlier leak that said it will take place during World War 1. At a behind-closed-doors event, the developer further detailed the sandbox combat in the game's 64-player multiplayer battles

"It's important to pay attention to the world," lead designer Danny Berlin said. "There's that rock-paper-scissor combat Battlefield is known for. With land, air, and sea, that stretches into even more possibilities this time around."

"Land, air, and sea" means biplanes, triplanes, battleships, and an expansive arsenal of handheld weapons as well.

"There's this common misconception that World War I was just muskets or something," Berlin said, laughing. "But it wasn't. It was a time of new weapons--bolt-action rifles, automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifles. The freedom we have is massive."

There's also a stronger focus on melee combat, Berlin said. In fact, DICE designed the hand-to-hand combat from the ground up for Battlefield 1, complete with a bayonet-charge ability, sabers, trench clubs, and even shovels.

As for how DICE is using the time period to further the game's mechanics, Berlin said the period is rife with new technology.

"This was the first time ever that people saw light tanks, heavy tanks, armored trucks," he said. "If you pop your head up from a trench and see a tank about to roll over you--you should get out of there."

Battlefield 1's air combat will be just as nuanced, with dogfights, bombing raids, and strafing runs.

"We have bombers to clear the way for your troops," he said. "If you're in a bomber, you might want to have a buddy scouting, covering you from the ground.

"You can have these dogfights, with multiple people in planes--your buddy is in the rear seat shooting back at that guy while you fly alongside a bomber clearing the way for your troops."

Battleships are also entirely controllable. You can "demolish an entire shoreline" in one, Berlin said. Battlefield 1 will also include lighter, more agile ships to reflect the dynamism present in the infantry combat and air battles.

These battles will play out on hills, wide fields, and, of course, trenches. Berlin was also quick to stress that the environments will be taken from around the world, in small towns and villages in the deserts of Arabia, the Italian Alps, and more.

All in all, Berlin said DICE is aiming to make use of the World War I era, complete with all of the new technology soldiers saw during the era, to further the "Battlefield flavor" the series is known for.

EA and Origin Access subscribers will be able to play Battlefield 1 on Oct. 18, followed by the game's full release on October 21 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

CALL OF DUTY INFINITE WARFARE NOT CONNECTED TO GHOST?

Infinity Ward also explains how leaving last-gen consoles behind benefits the game.

During a PlayStation livestream event today, Infinity Ward developers shared some new information about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. First, narrative director Taylor Kurosaki confirmed that Infinite Warfare is not at all connected to Infinity Ward's last game, 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts.

He went on to describe Infinite Warfare as a new "sub-franchise" for Call of Duty, suggesting it could get sequels in the future. Other Call of Duty sub-brands include the Modern Warfare and Black Ops franchises.

Also during the livestream, Kurosaki confirmed that Infinite Warfare, which is set partially in space, will not take players to anywhere outside of our solar system. There will be missions on other planets, while it was also confirmed today that one of these is set on Titan, which is one of Saturn's moons.

Some other interesting tidbits from the stream can be seen below.

*Players will return to a mothership, the Retribution, between missions
*There is no co-op for the campaign, but there will be for Zombies
*Because Infinite Warfare is being made exclusively for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, it allows the development team to push the hardware "a lot further" than if they also had to support last-generation systems
*The story was inspired by movies like Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down
*Among other things, Infinity Ward made use of a new lighting engine, while the game also has new AI types, as well as a fresh system for dogfighting and zero-G combat.
*There will be energy-based weapons, including a "seeker grenade." This is basically a spider bot that seeks out and kills enemies for you.
*Design director Jacob Minkoff recently told GameSpot about what kinds of new opportunities a space setting allows. He also confirmed that the game is inspired by war stories, not sci-fi.

Infinite Warfare launches on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

XBOX ONE UPDATE COMING SOON..

A new Xbox One update will be released soon, but don't expect any big changes. Microsoft Xbox engineer Mike Ybarra announced the update on Twitter today, saying it will introduce "small fixes."

"In the next week or so, you'll see a minor update to the system software in Xbox One. Small fixes, nothing major," he explained (via DualShockers). Ybarra did not provide any specifics on what the update fixes.

Looking beyond this upcoming update, the Anniversary update for Xbox One and Windows 10 is coming this summer. On Xbox One, it will add background music and Cortana support among other things. Microsoft has told fans to stay tuned to E3 for announcements about what else it will contain.

What new Xbox One features would you like to see added or improved upon? Let us know!

COLD DARKNESS AWAKENED FOR THE RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER

Cold Darkness Awakened, the next expansion for Rise of the Tomb Raider, comes out on March 29, Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics announced today. It will be available on that date for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. A new trailer has also been released.

Check it out:

Cold Darkness Awakened takes players to a decommissioned Cold War research base. It's been overrun, however, and a "deadly affliction" pours out from it.

"As the illness seeps into the wilderness surrounding the base, Trinity soldiers transform into bloodthirsty killers who thrive on carnage," reads a line from the expansion's description. "To prevent the affliction from spreading, Lara must rely on her wits, physical agility, and crafting abilities to overcome this new enemy and shut down the decommissioned base."

Cold Darkness Awakened is Rise of the Tomb Raider's third add-on, following Endurance Mode (December 2015) and Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch (January 2016). It's included with the Rise of the Tomb Raider Season Pass, which sells for $30, or can be purchased by itself for $10.

In other news about Rise of the Tomb Raider, the game is marked down this week as part of Microsoft's new Spring Sale. Additionally, the game is coming to PlayStation 4 later this year, though a release date has not been announced.

REVEAL OF GEAR OF WAR 4

A tweet from the Gears of War channel teases that the game's "next big reveal is coming soon." A countdown clock on the Gears of War website is ticking down to three days from now, on the morning of Monday, April 11. This is apparently when the announcement will be made, whatever it is.

The website itself is potentially confusing, as it shows only a number of hours left, but producer Rod Fergusson says it should be read as three days and a number of hours.

Gears of War community director Adam Fletcher teased the reveal further, saying it will come completely out of left field.

Gears of War 4 is scheduled to launch on October 11 for Xbox One. A PC version may also be released, but nothing has been confirmed at this stage. In other news, it's been confirmed that the game will offer split-screen play for multiplayer, though frame rate drops to 30fps when playing this way.

The Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta will begin later this month--check out this post to find out how to get in. On the subject of multiplayer, Fergusson recently said Gears of War's multiplayer--since Gears of War 1--has been "under-served," and explained why Gears of War 4 will change that.

NEW HALO 5 XBOX ONE "ADVANCED" CONTROLLER OPTIONS

An update for Halo 5: Guardians coming next week will introduce, as promised, some new "advanced" Xbox One controller options. With the update applied, players will be able to further customize shooting and aiming elements such as Look Acceleration, Inner Dead Zone, and Outer Dead Zone.

As explained on Halo Waypoint, the new Look Acceleration option adjusts the time it takes to achieve top look speed. When it arrives next week, the value for this setting will default to 3. If you want an experience that more closely resembles the Halo 5 multiplayer beta, you should use the 2 setting, 343 says.

Inner Dead Zone, meanwhile, pertains to the region around the analog stick's center position that disregards input; this is meant to prevent camera drift when you aren't actually touching the stick. Sometimes analog sticks don't return perfectly to the center (due to controller wear, etc.), and the new Inner Dead Zone customization options should help you have a better experience.

You'll need to test things out to find out what works best.

"Try turning the Inner Dead Zone down to 0 percent and test if you run into cases where after releasing the look stick, the camera continues drifting," 343 said. "If you do get drift, increase the inner dead zone setting a bit and try again. Ideally, you want as small of a deadzone as possible so that you're maximizing as much of the analog stick as possible."

The third new Xbox One controller option coming to Halo 5 next week is Outer Dead Zone. This will allow you to tweak the point at which the analog stick records 100 percent input.

"Outer Dead Zone is used to prevent slow turn (when you are applying 100 percent input on the look stick but not reaching top look speed). The larger the Outer Dead Zone, the sooner you will hit 100 percent," 343 said.

As with Inner Dead Zone, 343 provided some tuning recommendations to help you find out what works best.

"Try turning the Outer Dead Zone down to 0 percent and test if you run into cases where you can't hit the 'pegged state' and encounter slow turn," 343 said. "If you do get slow turn, increase it a bit more and try again. Note that the majority of cases we found where people were encountering slowturn were somewhat hard to discover as the problem tended to be inconsistent and were often happening only when clenching, torqueing, or rotating the analog stick around the edges a tad. So you might need to experiment with this one a tad more before settling on the proper setting."

343 also notes that the default values for Halo 5's three new controller options are unchanged from the settings as they exist today. That is to say, 343 is not changing how Halo 5 plays for everyone, but only giving players who do want more choices--and there seem to be quite a few--exactly that.

You can click through the images in the gallery above to get a closer look at the new options.

These changes come to Halo 5 through The Cartographer's Gift update, which is confirmed to launch sometime next week. 343 will showcase this update as part of a livestream event today.

We are excited to share with you that as part of next week’s update, we have added some additional options to the Controller Menu that will allow you to further customize your shooting/aiming experience. Included with the Cartographer's Gift update are customizable settings for:

Look Acceleration
Inner Dead Zone
Outer Dead Zone

Here is a quick overview of each and some guidance on using them.

LOOK ACCELERATION

Look Acceleration adjusts the time it takes to hit max look speed when you peg (apply 100% input in any direction) the look stick. The higher the setting, the quicker you will reach top speed, and the lower the setting, the longer it takes to reach top speed.

Currently, this value defaults to 3. For Halo 5's launch, we made the Look Acceleration a tad faster than it has been in past games and the Halo 5 Multiplayer Beta. This was done in part to help you make large aim corrections a bit faster (for example, if someone is attacking you from behind it allows you to more quickly do a 180). If you would like the Look Acceleration to match the Multiplayer Beta, use a setting of 2 here.

INNER DEAD ZONE

The Inner Dead Zone refers to a small region around the analog stick’s center position where we disregard input. Inner Dead Zone is used to prevent drift (camera movement when you aren’t applying any input to the look stick). This is caused because the analog sticks do not always return perfectly to center for a variety of reasons (manufacturing tolerances, wear and tear on the controller, etc). Note that the default we use here aligns with the platform recommended value and is what past Halo games have also used.

Recommended tuning process: Try turning the Inner Dead Zone down to 0% and test if you run into cases where after releasing the look stick, the camera continues drifting. If you do get drift, increase the inner dead zone setting a bit and try again. Ideally, you want as small of a deadzone as possible so that you're maximizing as much of the analog stick as possible.

OUTER DEAD ZONE

The Outer Dead Zone allows you to adjust the point at which the analog stick registers as hitting 100% input. Outer Dead Zone is used to prevent slow turn (when you are applying 100% input on the look stick but not reaching top look speed). The larger the Outer Dead Zone, the sooner you will hit 100%.

Recommended tuning process: Try turning the Outer Dead Zone down to 0% and test if you run into cases where you can’t hit the "pegged state" and encounter slow turn. If you do get slow turn, increase it a bit more and try again. Note that the majority of cases we found where people were encountering slowturn were somewhat hard to discover as the problem tended to be inconsistent and were often happening only when clenching, torqueing, or rotating the analog stick around the edges a tad. So you might need to experiment with this one a tad more before settling on the proper setting

Finally -- note that the default values on these parameters are all identical to what we (and you) have been using previously. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about this update changing anything. If you don’t touch them, the game will play identically to how it has. But for those of you that want the ability to more intimately adjust your aiming experience, these parameters should provide more fine-tuned control that will help better adjust the game to your specific controller hardware and personal preferences.

MEET THE CORE - XBOX ONE EXCLUSIVE FROM MEGA MAN CREATOR

Microsoft will show "a lot more" of ReCore, the upcoming Xbox One exclusive from Mega Man creator and Dead Rising designer Keiji Inafune, starting next year. That's according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who says he recently saw the game and reports that development is progressing well.

"You'll see a lot more of ReCore in 2016," Spencer said to a fan on Twitter. "I watched team play last week, great progress."

ReCore was announced during Microsoft's E3 2015 briefing in June. However, since then, the game has stayed largely under wraps. It's in development at Armature Studio--founded by Metroid developers--and stars a character named Jewel and a robot-dog companion called Mack.

For more on ReCore, check out GameSpot's previous coverage, including our video interview with Inafune (above). It's due to launch in 2016 and is just one of Microsoft's Xbox One titles launching that year. Others include Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, Gears of War 4, and Killer Instinct Season 3.

Microsoft has also confirmed that it won't show much more of Sea of Thieves until 2016.

"There's a massive lineup of more titles whether it's ReCore, or Crackdown 3, or Sea of Thieves, or Killer Instinct Season 3, there's just a massive list of games," Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg said about the Xbox One's 2016 lineup. "It's going to be a pretty exciting year as we think about what we show at E3 next year."

This isn't the first time information on a Gears of War remaster has surfaced. Last month a video was posted which appeared to include footage from the game. When approached for a comment on the leak, a Microsoft spokesperson said, "We have nothing to announce at this time."

The company may be announcing a Gears of War remaster at its E3 conference. Be sure to stay tuned to GameSpot for the latest E3 news as it rolls out.

FALLOUT 4 OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED FOR XBOX ONE, PC & PS4

[UPDATE] First trailer released for newest entry in Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG franchise.

Bethesda has officially revealed Fallout 4, the newest entry in its open-world RPG series, which is set to ship on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The game's official website went live slightly ahead of schedule, showing box art for the title and also confirming it will not be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

A trailer for the game has also been released. It opens by showing the "Please Stand By" message on a television, before pulling out to reveal the inside of a bombed out house.

A dog is seen entering as a voice on the radio says "with the world poised on the bring of war, Vault-Tech is reporting." The message cuts off, but returns later to say "folks, er, it seems we've got some breaking news ... standby," setting up another post-apocalyptic adventure.

The dog walks through the house and out into the world as the trailer cuts between pre and post-apocalypse depictions of the world.

As previously indicated, Fallout 4 will take place in Boston. During the video we are briefly shown an area called "Scollay Square," which is located in real-world Boston. The USS Constitution, which is docked in the city, Bunker Hill Monument, and the Massachusetts State House are also seen in the video.

A narrator, which has been confirmed as Fallout 3 narrator Ron Perlman, then says "war never changes," an iconic line used throughout the series.

Also worth noting is that the character featured in the trailer is voiced. It is unclear whether this is the player character, but if it is, having a voiced playable protagonist would be a first for the series.

The entrance to Vault 111 is also briefly shown. It is likely this is where players will journey into the wasteland from. Red Sox fans may also notice a post-apocalyptic version of Fenway Park.

Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard, who has previously worked on The Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3, is directing the project.

"We know what this game means to everyone," said Howard. "The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We've never been more excited about a game, and we can't wait to share it."

Bethesda is expected to show more of Fallout 4 at its E3 press briefing in Los Angeles on June 14. This is the first time the company is hosting its own press conference, creating the expectation that it has several big titles to showcase.

For those interested, the song used in the trailer is It's All Over But The Crying by The Ink Spots. Bethesda previously used the group's I Don't Want To Set The World on Fire in its Fallout 3 reveal trailer.

RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS 2

Although Resident Evil Revelations 2 doesn't recapture old glory or reach new heights for the series, it contains moments of inspiration where its action-adventure gameplay and mostly compelling mystery plot marry together beautifully. Capcom’s horror doesn't frighten, but as an action-adventure it’s elevated by this occasional synergy, and the excellent bonus Raid mode.

Revelations 2’s four episodes dance between two timelines, each with its own pair of characters, to weave together a mystery that kept me hooked right up until its finale. In one, reliably endearing Claire Redfield and ‘tude-filled Moira Burton - who I also liked, despite her tendency to swear for the sake of swearing -  are two unlikely friends, thrust together by an evil ‘overseer’ who is keeping them captive for reasons unknown.

Resident Evil fan-favourite Barry Burton is back in the second timeline, joined by mysterious newcomer Natalia, a little girl whose memory harbors half-remembered secrets. Each episode manages to keep its cards close enough to its chest that I was compelled to play the next one – perhaps the only justification for Revelations 2’s four-episode structure – and there’s a humour in the characters that I found refreshing.

Pairing off these characters does more than serve the story, though, as your companions are legitimately useful in ways that make gameplay more interesting. Moira’s flashlight is used to blind

The Evil WithinResident Evil 5Dead Island enemies and find hidden objects for Claire, and Natalia can see enemy weakpoints and crawl through tiny spaces where Barry can’t fit.

Revelations 2 is at its best when it makes us use all these skills at once. Its most satisfying moments involve switching between characters on the fly - or shrieking instructions at your partner if playing in split-screen or online co-op - in order to make it through particularly tricky or dangerous areas.

Both Natalia and Moira are physically underpowered, too, which can lend to a sense of hysteria. There’s a thrilling section in Episode 3, for example, where Moira and Claire must escape an enemy-filled building by working together against the clock. Moira can’t defend herself against giant enemies, so you’ve either got to make a run for it or you’ve got to switch to Claire and pump bullets into them from afar.

I would have liked to have seen more of this kind of co-op play across the board, but unfortunately Revelations 2’s biggest sin is its boring corridor environments. There’s a significant lack of environmental detail here - ‘unbreakable crates’ is as spicy as it generally gets - and its crumbling interiors are painted in far less than 50 shades of grey.

Equally unimaginative enemies roam them. While there are a handful that stand out - Claire faces off against a deliciously gross monster at the end of episode 3, while the final boss will likely inspire fan-art - most enemies are generic shamblers or walking pustules with glowing red spots. In 2015, these monsters aren’t only played out - they’re simply not scary.

Fortunately, traditional Resident Evil puzzles do eventually spice things up, after a conspicuous absence in the first few episodes. Episode 3 introduces some classic brain-benders, including one that involves Barry and Natalia working together to move a box from one end of a level to another. It’s all nonsense, of course - the justification is that the giant box is an outdoor ‘power source’ - but it incorporates some clever level design and provides a nice break from the running and gunning.

There’s far more consistency outside the main campaign. The Raid minigame is a highlight, played either solo or co-op. Raid mode challenges you to clear out a huge number of shooting galleries under the recommended level without healing yourself, offering bragging rights and unlockable characters as a reward. At 130 medals down, I’ve only scratched the surface, yet I’m compelled to continue: Raid offers real longevity outside of the main campaign.

APRIL UPDATE IMPROVES XBOX ONE`S

Microsoft has detailed the next Xbox One system update, which brings with it some minor, but much appreciated new features.

The April system update is being distributed to preview program members first, as usual, but it'll be coming in two parts. The first of these should now be in the hands of testers, and consists of three features, as detailed by Major Nelson.

With the update installed, achievement notifications will include more than just the name of the achievement you've unlocked. You'll be able to see the description for the achievement, sparing you the effort of having to open the achievements app in order to see exactly what it is you just accomplished. Should you want to still open the achievements app, it should now open more quickly when launched from a notification.

Party chat has been improved and will now help to identify what problem may be preventing you from chatting with other users. It will do this by informing you of networking issues or privacy settings that are getting in the way of being able to chat, as well as by identifying other problems--such as your Kinect's chat being disabled, as shown in the image above.

Finally, game hubs are being made more easily accessible from the activity feed. You'll be linked to a game's hub from posts involving that game, including achievements, video clips, and screenshots.

Details on the features coming in the second part of the April update's preview will be announced next week.
