DARKSIDERS REMASTER COMING SOON TO XBOX ONE?

It looks like the first Darksiders game is getting a fresh coat of paint. After a leak earlier this week, publisher Nordic Games' website reveals that Darksiders is getting remastered. Called Darksiders Warmastered Edition, the game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC.

As detailed on the website, the Warmastered Edition improves upon the original 2010 action/adventure game in a number of ways. For instance, it'll run at native 1080p on consoles. It also hits 60 frames per second on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, although the Wii U version is limited to 30 frames per second.

The changes also include:

*Doubled texture resolutions
*Rendering improvements and rework
*Better shadow rendering quality
*Post processing effects

This week a couple European sites (NextN and PCGames) leaked the remaster early. We don't have word on when it'll launch or what price it'll be--the website only says "coming soon."

You can check out our review of the original Darksiders here. The game's sequel, Darksiders II, was already remastered for PS4, Xbox One, and PC and released in October 2015.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 BIOHAZARD DEMO STRATEGY GUIDE

Resident Evil 7's demo is believed to have many secrets and fans have been busy, trying to uncover them--sadly, it's starting to look like everything has been discovered. Now, a fan named WheresBarry has put together an NES-style manual that details everything that's known about the demo.

The manual covers everything from the demo's story and characters to the locations of the mysterious ghost girl. There's a detailed map of the entire house, a breakdown of every item, and a guide to all the endings. WheresBarry even added a list of theories, some of which have been pushed and researched by the community to a surprising extent.

WheresBarry introduces the manual, saying he's been a "huge fan" of the series since the original came out in 1996.

"Like most of you, I've been playing the demo for about seven straight days and am slowly starting to realize that there is nothing left to do," he said. "I decided to take a break from playing and write down everything we've ACTUALLY found out about the game."

He ends the manual by saying, "We've done everything there is to do, the game just ends that way. Capcom is laughing at us." You can check out the full thing for yourself below.

Despite there likely being no solution to the demo, it's a really fun read, even if you already know everything there is to discover. It makes me wish modern games came with manuals like this.

Although the demo leaves the story of Resident Evil 7 a mystery, we do know that it isn't part of the full game. Resident Evil 7's protagonist will also be different from the one you play as in the demo.

For more on Resident Evil 7, check out GameSpot's interview with producer Masachika Kawata, where he talks to us about what the full game will actually be like. He also talked about how he was unhappy with the cancellation of Silent Hills/PT.

OHSEM BATTLE FROM BATTLEFIELD 1

DICE revealed Battlefield 1 today, confirming an earlier leak that said it will take place during World War 1. At a behind-closed-doors event, the developer further detailed the sandbox combat in the game's 64-player multiplayer battles

"It's important to pay attention to the world," lead designer Danny Berlin said. "There's that rock-paper-scissor combat Battlefield is known for. With land, air, and sea, that stretches into even more possibilities this time around."

"Land, air, and sea" means biplanes, triplanes, battleships, and an expansive arsenal of handheld weapons as well.

"There's this common misconception that World War I was just muskets or something," Berlin said, laughing. "But it wasn't. It was a time of new weapons--bolt-action rifles, automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifles. The freedom we have is massive."

There's also a stronger focus on melee combat, Berlin said. In fact, DICE designed the hand-to-hand combat from the ground up for Battlefield 1, complete with a bayonet-charge ability, sabers, trench clubs, and even shovels.

As for how DICE is using the time period to further the game's mechanics, Berlin said the period is rife with new technology.

"This was the first time ever that people saw light tanks, heavy tanks, armored trucks," he said. "If you pop your head up from a trench and see a tank about to roll over you--you should get out of there."

Battlefield 1's air combat will be just as nuanced, with dogfights, bombing raids, and strafing runs.

"We have bombers to clear the way for your troops," he said. "If you're in a bomber, you might want to have a buddy scouting, covering you from the ground.

"You can have these dogfights, with multiple people in planes--your buddy is in the rear seat shooting back at that guy while you fly alongside a bomber clearing the way for your troops."

Battleships are also entirely controllable. You can "demolish an entire shoreline" in one, Berlin said. Battlefield 1 will also include lighter, more agile ships to reflect the dynamism present in the infantry combat and air battles.

These battles will play out on hills, wide fields, and, of course, trenches. Berlin was also quick to stress that the environments will be taken from around the world, in small towns and villages in the deserts of Arabia, the Italian Alps, and more.

All in all, Berlin said DICE is aiming to make use of the World War I era, complete with all of the new technology soldiers saw during the era, to further the "Battlefield flavor" the series is known for.

EA and Origin Access subscribers will be able to play Battlefield 1 on Oct. 18, followed by the game's full release on October 21 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

CALL OF DUTY INFINITE WARFARE NOT CONNECTED TO GHOST?

Infinity Ward also explains how leaving last-gen consoles behind benefits the game.

During a PlayStation livestream event today, Infinity Ward developers shared some new information about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. First, narrative director Taylor Kurosaki confirmed that Infinite Warfare is not at all connected to Infinity Ward's last game, 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts.

He went on to describe Infinite Warfare as a new "sub-franchise" for Call of Duty, suggesting it could get sequels in the future. Other Call of Duty sub-brands include the Modern Warfare and Black Ops franchises.

Also during the livestream, Kurosaki confirmed that Infinite Warfare, which is set partially in space, will not take players to anywhere outside of our solar system. There will be missions on other planets, while it was also confirmed today that one of these is set on Titan, which is one of Saturn's moons.

Some other interesting tidbits from the stream can be seen below.

*Players will return to a mothership, the Retribution, between missions
*There is no co-op for the campaign, but there will be for Zombies
*Because Infinite Warfare is being made exclusively for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, it allows the development team to push the hardware "a lot further" than if they also had to support last-generation systems
*The story was inspired by movies like Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down
*Among other things, Infinity Ward made use of a new lighting engine, while the game also has new AI types, as well as a fresh system for dogfighting and zero-G combat.
*There will be energy-based weapons, including a "seeker grenade." This is basically a spider bot that seeks out and kills enemies for you.
*Design director Jacob Minkoff recently told GameSpot about what kinds of new opportunities a space setting allows. He also confirmed that the game is inspired by war stories, not sci-fi.

Infinite Warfare launches on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

FALLOUT 4 OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED FOR XBOX ONE, PC & PS4

[UPDATE] First trailer released for newest entry in Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG franchise.

Bethesda has officially revealed Fallout 4, the newest entry in its open-world RPG series, which is set to ship on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The game's official website went live slightly ahead of schedule, showing box art for the title and also confirming it will not be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

A trailer for the game has also been released. It opens by showing the "Please Stand By" message on a television, before pulling out to reveal the inside of a bombed out house.

A dog is seen entering as a voice on the radio says "with the world poised on the bring of war, Vault-Tech is reporting." The message cuts off, but returns later to say "folks, er, it seems we've got some breaking news ... standby," setting up another post-apocalyptic adventure.

The dog walks through the house and out into the world as the trailer cuts between pre and post-apocalypse depictions of the world.

As previously indicated, Fallout 4 will take place in Boston. During the video we are briefly shown an area called "Scollay Square," which is located in real-world Boston. The USS Constitution, which is docked in the city, Bunker Hill Monument, and the Massachusetts State House are also seen in the video.

A narrator, which has been confirmed as Fallout 3 narrator Ron Perlman, then says "war never changes," an iconic line used throughout the series.

Also worth noting is that the character featured in the trailer is voiced. It is unclear whether this is the player character, but if it is, having a voiced playable protagonist would be a first for the series.

The entrance to Vault 111 is also briefly shown. It is likely this is where players will journey into the wasteland from. Red Sox fans may also notice a post-apocalyptic version of Fenway Park.

Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard, who has previously worked on The Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3, is directing the project.

"We know what this game means to everyone," said Howard. "The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We've never been more excited about a game, and we can't wait to share it."

Bethesda is expected to show more of Fallout 4 at its E3 press briefing in Los Angeles on June 14. This is the first time the company is hosting its own press conference, creating the expectation that it has several big titles to showcase.

For those interested, the song used in the trailer is It's All Over But The Crying by The Ink Spots. Bethesda previously used the group's I Don't Want To Set The World on Fire in its Fallout 3 reveal trailer.

Take a look at some key Fallout 4 image and a GS News Update covering the reveal below.
